We are told that we should be up and about more, but something keeps us glued to our sets. It could be our televisions, our computers, or simply a habit in your workday. Whatever it is, the evidence is clear, sitting too much is bad for your health.<\/p>\n<p>First off, check out this video featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LFCeYyHBcLg\">Dr. Joan Vernikos<\/a>, a scientist, \u00a0who, when in NASA, conducted research on how absence of gravity in space causes deterioration in astronauts\u2019 muscles .<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s \u00a0a brief run-down &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>A traditional diet and exercise model is not enough to prevent harmful effects of a technology-driven and sedentary lifestyle. \u00a0A series of frequent, low-intensity, gravity-defying movements are more effective at keeping obesity, heart disease, diabetes and cardio-vascular problems at bay rather than \u2013 say exercising three to five times a week in a gym. So perpetual motion is very important. Dr. Vernikos remembers our grandmothers and great grandmothers, who ran households by doing everything \u2013 from churning butter to washing clothes on the river \u2013 at home. She is not advocating that we go back to that lifestyle \u2013 she wants us to use that idea of motion and movement in our everyday life and resort to frequent movements and movement changes.<\/p>\n<p>You should be able to get up and keep up with your day in a way that is active and engaged.\u00a0 But this is not the case, as most of us have come to terms with. Many of us work in jobs where we have no choice but to sit and work in front of our computer.
